Keeping yourself safe from online scams

Learn how to get inside the mind of a fraudster and detect Romance Scams with Detective Linda Herczeg of the Economic Crimes Section of the Edmonton Police Service at the 2018 Spring Edmonton Woman’s Show

Join Linda for two different presentations – one that will focus on the critical thinking errors of fraudsters and the fraud triangle, exploring why they commit fraud. You’ll also learn about some of the most prominent frauds currently being committed across Canada. The other will focus on romance scams – identifying some of the warning signs on dating profiles and giving you tips to help determine whether an individual you have ‘virtually’ met is a fraudster.

Linda joined the Edmonton Police Service in July 1992. In January of 2016 she transferred to a Detective position in the Edmonton Police Service’s Economic Crimes Section, where she has the opportunity to work in an investigative capacity and with the community at large to provide information on fraud prevention and fraud awareness.

See Linda onstage at 1:00 on Saturday and 12:30 on Sunday
